The Latest Technology in Special Water / Film-Based Attractions |
What Is It ? |
| A unique multi-media spectacular / stand-alone venue first made famous with Disneyland's FANTASMIC attraction. The attraction projects images onto a giant curtain/ wall of water up to five stories high (60' x 120')! Due to the unique properties of the water mist, images appear to float in mid-air---in a 3D, holographic effect -- unlike anything anyone has ever seen. The sheer size of the images towering over the audience, combined with surround-sound audio F/X create an unforgettable, multi-sensory experience. The show can also be enhanced with laser effects, pyrotechnics, 3D computer animation and graphics, live performers, Wildfire* luminescence, etc. |
| The WaterScreen itself is a proprietary, semi-circular screen of atomized water upon which large scale, high intensity film or video images, graphics, computer generated images, laser beam effects and slides are projected. The high impact nozzle creates just enough aeration in the water to act as a refractive surface, using millions of tiny air bubbles that simulate 'pixels.' |
| The screen of water generally comes in 3 basic sizes: 60 ft. high by 120 ft. wide, 40 ft. high by 80 ft. wide, and 20 ft. high by 40 ft. wide. Since the screen is half a circle, its dimensions are always in a 2 to 1 ratio. The screen is a 'wall of water' with an approximate thickness of 4 to 6 inches at its center. |
| This 'wall' is created by hardware that is submerged underwater out of view from the audience. The hardware consists of a metal frame that houses 1-3 submersible water pumps that draw up the water, then force the water under tremendous pressure into a manifold that further increases the pressure by forcing the water into a specially designed nozzle. It is this nozzle that actually creates the shape and form of the WaterScreen. |
| The Water Screen can be used in fresh or salt water. If the application is short term, fresh water pumps can be used in salt water. But for longer term or permanent installations, the pumps and nozzle are manufactured with a different type of stainless steel, as well the main frame which requires special coating. By the use of our custom designed buoy and flotation systems the waterscreen can also adjust to any tidal effects. |
| Due to the 'refractive' properties of the WaterScreen, the images are always rear projected. With the use of Laser Video (LVP) as the projection source, the projection distances can be reduced significantly - the LVP can project images at 120 degrees. However, film projectors are recommended due to higher luminance, resolution and color quality. |
| A WaterScreen can be created either indoors or outdoors as long as there is a source of water available (ocean, lake, river outdoor/indoor pools etc.) |
