High Definition Broadcast Center, HDTV Production Studio, Hi Def- California

Considered to be one of the world's leading digital production facilities, this state-of-the-art HDTV Production & Broadcast Center opened in Studio City in March of 2002 to take advantage of the high concentration of entertainment focused companies in Southern California. It is a complete High Definition production and post-production facility for anyone producing feature films, independent films, television shows, or any project where HD video is the medium of choice. It boasts a fully-equipped Broadcast center, capable of televising live High Definition or Standard Definition signals via fiber optic networks anywhere in the world, including digital cinemas. Perfect for live events, teleconferencing, media tours, multi-camera production or green screen compositing. Complete with a 65' X 30' sound stage, High Def cameras with pedestals and prompters, computer controlled lighting grid, control room, fiber-optic connection, green room, make-up rooms, wardrobe area, voice-over booth, 10 feet wide elephant stage doors and adjacent parking lot.

The new facility has the latest HDTV equipment, such as the Panasonic 3700 multi-format HD deck. The facility also features the Snell & Wilcox HD1024 switcher with dual-channel DVE and color correction, Chyron Duet HD character generator and a Graham-Patten D/ESAM 8000 digital audio console, including surround sound mixing capability, and the QuVis QuBit digital motion image recorder.

TVA utilizes High Definition Telecine suites each with customized Cintel Scanners supporting 35mm, 65mm and 70mm real time telecine transfers.

Custom photodiode pickups provide superior image quality with less noise and drift. RTS real time steady gate, Digital Deflection scan system, Accuglow, Accugrade are standard.

HDTV Down Conversions are performed using the VAS down converter in its own dedicated environment. Digital audio sample rate conversion, 3:2 field detection and customized edit control are utilized assuring accuracy and quality.

HDTV Digital Restoration utilizing the latest in software and hardware technology is performed in one of our DRS suites. These controlled environments utilized the highest standard in monitoring and are staffed by experts trained in the art of quality control and film editing.

HD is a cost effective alternative to film that can deliver images of equal caliber and visual impact. When producers shoot 24p HD instead of 35mm film, the cost difference can be dramatic, with savings as much as 50 percent - on film stock, lab processing, and film prints, among other expenses.

Whether the images will ultimately be displayed on a TV or movie screen, these digital cinema suites provide a linear HD editorial environment where editorial, color correction, and mastering can be done all from the same stage. Images can be projected onto a 20-foot screen or on two 24p multiformat, multi-standard HDTV monitors.
